Europe Award for the Trade

The family firm Establecimientos Otero was founded in 1896, at the end of 19^th century, in the province of Pontevedra. The firm operated in the sector of ironmongery and, passing through four generations, it finally became the Grupo de Empresas Establecimientos Otero, a business reality dealing in ironmongery, furniture, domestic appliances, toys, products for babies, gifts and furniture products. The Group includes a travel agency, too, Viaxes Otero. Its president, Dr. José Vilas Villanueva, who is also the founding member of Ferrokey, a chain of ironmongery located in Sain and Portugal, and of Tien 21, a chain of shops dealing in domestic appliances in Spain and Portugal. He is also board member of Caixanova and he took part in the realization of the blooming economic development of Galicia.
